The musician and composer Cristian Marcia was born in Quartu Sant’Elena (Italy). He studied at an early age at the National Conservatory of Cagliari G. Pierluigi Da Palestrina, obtaining congratulations from the jury when he graduated.

Profoundly shaping his musical talents with two teachers, Alirio Diaz and Leo Brouwer, he continued his studies with them. As a graduate of national and international guitar competitions, he received a scholarship to study at the prestigious École Normale de Musique A. Cortot of Paris with Alberto Ponce and Rafael Andia. At the same time, he completed a bachelor’s degree in Musicology and Ethnomusicology at the University of Paris.

Cristian Marcia is a much sought-after soloist and chamber musician. He began performing in Paris as a soloist with the International Ensemble of Paris, with which he toured throughout France. He has played in the world’s most famous halls, including Salle Gaveau, Salle Cortôt, and the UNESCO Auditorium in Paris, as well as the Seoul Art Center and Shiodome Hall in Tokyo, among others. His repertoire spans from the Baroque era to modern compositions.

He is also greatly in demand as a chamber music partner, having enjoyed artistic collaborations with the soloists of the Opéra Bastille in Paris, as well as renowned musicians such as Gérard Caussé, Pierre Amoyal, Katia Ricciarelli, Yurij Bashmet, Gérard Poulet, Marc Coppey, Jean-Marc Luisada, Fabio Bidini, Quatuor Modigliani, Quatuor Hermes, Quatuor Van Kuijk, Michelangelo String Quartet, Mihaela Martin, Frans Helmerson, Nobuko Imai, Daniel Austrich, Enrico Pace, Pietro de Maria, Julien Beaudiment, Michel Moragues, Romain Guyot, Florent Heau, Dong-Suk Kang, Roland Daugareil, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, Caterina Murino, Alain Meunier, Il Quartetto Italiano, Anton Quartet, Koichiro Harada, Shigenori Kudo, Jean Ferrandis, Federico Agostini, Philippe Muller, Seoul Camerata, Alexander Chaushian, Marc Danel, Tatjana Masurenko, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, and Luciana Serra.

Cristian Marcia teaches at the Conservatory of Music in Paris and has performed at numerous national and international festivals, always with great success and joy. He is regularly invited to the most important musical academies in Japan, Korea, Italy, and France. He has recorded for television and radio, including RAI and Radio France.

In 2001, he founded the International Music Academy of Cagliari and the festival “Le Notti Musicali di Cagliari,” where he also serves as Artistic Director. UNESCO in Paris has recognized this academy for its promotion of international music culture and artistic activities. Many world-famous artists and prestigious music schools collaborate with the academy and festival, including the CNSM of Paris, École Normale Supérieure A. Cortot of Paris, Geidai University of Tokyo, Mozarteum of Salzburg, Universität der Künste Berlin, Royal College of Music London, and Juilliard School of New York.

In 2008, Cristian Marcia founded the UNESCO Event “La Sardaigne, La Musique au Cœur de la Méditerranée” in Paris, for which he is also Artistic Director. This event was created to support the development of musical culture and to promote young musical talents. Many world-renowned personalities have collaborated on this project, including Claudia Cardinale, Katia Ricciarelli, Marisa Berenson, Macha Méril, and Caterina Murino.

In 2019, he created “Bentu de Notas,” a multimedia and innovative show aimed at promoting the history and territory of Sardinia. This event integrates music, acting, and dance with the historical and natural elements of the “Parco di Molentargius.” The music he composed for this project is articulated in the Mediterranean Suite “I Quadri di un Ambiente,” written in a minimalist style conceptually inspired by visual arts, dance, and theater.

In 2020, he founded “AMBIENS,” a musical and multimedia show where hypnotic and contemplative music, lights, projections, and water lead the viewer on a journey through the natural environment of the Public Gardens and the art of the Municipal Gallery of Cagliari. It is an innovative event that establishes a continuous dialogue between music, art, and nature. The music he composed for this project is structured in the composition “IS STASONIS – BERANU, ISTIU, ATTONGIU, IERRU,” a minimalist work inspired by the four seasons of Sardinia.

In 2023, he composed “Is Musicas – Voyages,” a musical composition divided into three movements: Direction, Emotion, and Horizon. In the same year, he began a musical collaboration with the prestigious Canadian music publisher “Les Productions d’Oz” for the distribution and publication of his compositions.

In 2024, he composed “Is Danzas – Songs,” a musical work divided into three dances: Sérénade Mélodique, Cantus Harmonicus, and Danza Ritmica. This piece is written in a minimalist style with a timbrally uniform structure.
